Itinerary

Day 1:  Arrival in Dublin

I will greet you at Dublin Airport and we will drive south of Dublin for our visit to the imposing Powerscourt House, famous for its mix of ornamental gardens and wild landscapes and a view of the impressive Sugar Loaf Mountain, here we will also find the tallest tree in Ireland. A café and restaurant invites you to have a snack on the large terrace.

Day 2:  Glendalough, Wicklow Mountains and Seal Rescue Station

We travel through the Wicklow Mountains landscape to Glendalough, where we will discover the ruins of one of the most important monastic sites in a protected valley. This monastery was founded in the 6th century by St Kevin, who actually wanted to live here as a hermit. We will explore this beautiful valley on a walk.
In the afternoon we visit the Seal Rescue Station on the Wexford coast. Here you can get up close and personal with the adorable seal pups and help bring them one step closer to being released into the wild! During a one-hour visit, we will see what it takes to ensure that the seals are happy and healthy during their stay here. We will have the opportunity to feed the seals, watch them dive and compete for fish. These skills are important for survival in the wild.
Seal Rescue Ireland is a wildlife rescue and conservation charity that we support with our visit.

Overnight stay including breakfast in the Enniscorthy / Waterford area

Day 3 : Waterford City and Copper Coast Geopark

Today we visit Ireland’s oldest city, Waterford, which looks back on 1,000 years of history and is always full of surprises. Ancient works of art by the Vikings, Norman buildings and glittering flawless crystal – on a city tour we explore this jewel in Ireland’s Ancient East and discover all the treasures that make this city so special. We spend the afternoon driving along the famous Copper Coast, a Unesco Geopark area with great geological diversity, bogs and beaches, with dolmens, castles and other historical places.

Overnight stay including breakfast at the 4 * Midleton Park Hotel in Midleton or similar

Day 4: Boat trip to Ballycotton Lighthouse and Cobh

A fabulous boat trip and guided tour will bring us to one of the two black lighthouses in Ireland, it is located on Ballycotton Island, we will learn a lot about the interesting history of the place.

In the afternoon we drive to Cobh, this is where the Titanic docked for the last time and I arrived here in Ireland for the first time, a long, long time ago. We can visit the Titanic Museum here. You can also stroll through the beautiful town with its many colorful houses and visit St Colman’s Cathedral.

Day 5: Cork and Kinsale

A visit to the city of Cork, the second largest city in Ireland, built on the sweeping River Lee is on our agenda today. The market halls of the English Market in the heart of the city are known and loved far beyond the city limits. And not just since the Queen visited them in May 2011. Seafood, cheese, chocolate, spices, fruits, baked goods and and and. Many churches shape the cityscape, Shandon has a fish as a weathercock on the roof and St Finbarre’s Cathedral is known for its golden angel.

At the end of the day we reach the south coast and explore Kinsale, where we can take a short tour and stop in a nice restaurant. Kinsale, one of the most beautiful coastal towns in Ireland is known for its good restaurants and cosy pubs.

Overnight stay including breakfast in a guest house in Kinsale

Day 6: Old Head of Kinsale – West Cork

Today we head west and explore Skibbereen and Baltimore and the West Cork countryside, this is the southern end (or beginning) of the Wild Atlantic Way, the world famous Irish Coastal route.

-8We will drive out to the Old Head of Kinsale, there is also a lighthouse here. Off the coast the Lusitania sank, we will learn more about it in a museum, very interesting in relation to 20th Century history.

Day 7: Rock of Cashel and Kilkenny City

Our journey takes us inland to the important historical site of the Rock of Cashel. This was once the seat of the High Kings of Munster. The 65 meter high limestone hill is also often referred to as the Irish Acropolis.
From here we travel to Kilkenny. The medieval city has a lot to offer, modern culture, traditional pubs, impressive churches and cathedrals. The most outstanding building is Kilkenny Castle, which is located directly on the banks of the River Nore and which we will visit. Kilkenny is also the seat of the Irish Crafts Association.

Overnight stay including breakfast at Mena House B&B in Kilkenny or similar

Day 8: Kilkenny – Drive to Dublin (Delta Sensory Gardens)

Depending on our mood, we can spend most of the day in Kilkenny, there is a lot to see here. Or we leave the city at noon and visit an interesting garden on our way to Dublin. For Dublin I suggest a hotel in the city centre or near the airport.

Overnight stay including breakfast at the Hotel Dublin City / Dublin Airport

Day 9: Dublin City
On this last day you can explore Dublin, here I suggest a city tour with a local guide who is at home in Dublin, a Dublin specialist, so to speak. We also recommend a tour with the Hop on-Hop off bus, which will take you to all the important visitor sites. There is a lot to discover here in the capital – the famous Book of Kells in Trinity College, the numerous parks such as Stephen’s Green, Kilmainham Jail, O’Connell Street and the historic GPO, whiskey distilleries, churches and cathedrals and so much more.

Insider Tips

You will see hidden places away from mass tourism and you find stops and routes on our itinerary that you will not find on a standard coach tour. I have many contacts all across Ireland to use for any special requests.

I love Ireland

I will show you the genuine Ireland. I live in the country you are visiting. During the Winter time I go and find new ideas and contacts, excellent accommodation and interesting places.

Small Groups

We travel in small groups, meeting local people. We have an abundance of leisure to relax and unwind. We have the time for unplanned detours, should the opportunity arise.

Our Services

We are here

We are at home here, we have the local knowledge and contacts to give you a truly unique experience. If you are not used to driving on the left hand side you will enjoy being chauffeured free of worries. We book your accommodation, events and activities and I am there for you to support you if needed.

Transport

Our vehicle for chauffeured tours is a practically new Volkswagen Transporter for maximum 8 guests, for 2021 we are limiting our guest numbers to 6. Sitting a bit higher than in a limousine you will have a great view and see more of the landscape passing by. For extended tours we have plenty of room for your luggage.

Sustainability and climate change

Environmental awareness is an important part of our travel philosophy. We prioritise partners and businesses who engage themselves in climate protection. The preservation of Ireland's natural habitats and precious historic sites is important to us. To counter CO2 emissions caused by travel we will plant a native Irish tree for each guest on one of our extended tours. Only a small part of Ireland's extensive forests is still existing today, with your help we want to support the natural reforestation of this island. Talk to us to find out more.

Peace of Mind

Andaire is registered with the Irish Tourist board and you will see the white and green logo of the Covid-19-Safety charter on our website which shows you we have been educated in infection control and adhere to strict hygiene measures and are also subject to spot checks.
