Stained Glass & Celtic Revival in East Galway

€79/Per Person*

Stained Glass windows in churches are familiar to most of us, when we start to look closer we realise and understand the special skills and the beauty of this artform.

Until the early 20th Century when a distinctive Irish stained glass revival emerged through a handful of artists working in this demanding medium, the history of stained glass in Ireland was strongly influenced by craftsmen from outside the country. Edward Martyn was a driving force in that revival and St Brendan’s Cathedral in Loughrea became a showcase.

On our tour we will visit various Celtic Revival sites including Ballinasloe and Loughrea and find out interesting details of the history and the art of stained glass.

Andrea, your guide and chauffeur for the day, works with stained glass herself and will give you a deep insight into the design and execution of a stained glass window.
Our tour will include a stop for a lovely lunch and if time permits a walk on the shores of Lough Rea.

For guests looking for some hands-on experience a visit to Andrea’s studio in South Co Galway can be arranged for another day. For first impressions have a look at www.caimileon.com
