Garryland and Coole Nature Reserve is located outside the market town of Gort in South Co. Galway at the edge of the famous landscape of the Burren. This is a wonderful area to explore the world of forest and lake. Let’s go for a walk in this wonderful habitat while we chat about trees. Which trees here are native to Ireland? What are their special features? What is the connection to the Celtic Tree Calendar and Ogham writing?

From Grimm’s fairy tales to the great Irish legends, stories are what bind it all together, nature and people and our connection to the land. Being out and about in the woods, chatting about our experiences and ideas, observing nature is a wonderful thing to do. Looking at trees you might forget your worries and breathe easy. You will certainly get lots of fresh forest air.

Easy walking, please bring suitable clothing for changeable weather.
